abc drama!

Okay so i have just finished watching an abc family double whammy: Make it or Break it  and Pretty Little Liars and i have to say they were both rather entertaining, up there with my fave original abc drama, 8 simple rules.
Okays so quick overview of both shows- look away now if you have yet to discover these shows.

So Make it of Break it is about four elite gymnasts who all train at the same gym. the story follows them through their lives and the challenges they face to become Olympic champions. There is Payson, the average girl with average family who is an amazing power gymnast and who is very very focused. Then there is Kayley who is more focused on the popularity side of being an elite gymnast and her boyfriend (who shes not supposed to have). As with any group of teenage girls there is the bitch- Lauren a true daddy's little girl who gets everything she could ever want through her dad. Then there is the new girl, the odd one out, she is the wild card who came from a public gym on a scholarship and although it is against gym rules, has to have a job to support her family. I have a feeling with those three in a gym together things are going to get interesting. In the first episode we got introduced to these characters, their family's and their coaches. and then just when we thought we were going to get a bit bored of this show, all hell breaks lose as Lauren loses her spot on the team and decides to move to a different club, taking with her all her daddy's money and more importantly the gyms coach- Oh the drama! i just hope they manage to get it all across in this amazing short first season with only ten or so episodes to work with. hmmm... that will be interesting. but don't worry guys this show looks like it is in for the long haul having just been renewed for a third season in the US.

Then there is Pretty Little Liars, i am still a little bit worried about this show, it is supposedly based on a really good book series which is very popular but i haven't had a chance to read it. For those of you who have, Do you think i should read the books first before watching the rest of the show, would i actually get what is going on better? I don't know i am not sure. it kind of seems like this show is a bit of another teen drama with no storyline behind it. Four pretty girls get themselves into a nightmare situation, scream a lot and then get rescued, i don't know they need to do something better than that to keep me interested. Also the total cliche of them all having their own problems, the worst of which is Araia (Lucy Kate Hale), i mean the whole hooking up with the teacher is so over done and totally unrealistic, i mean come on i have never met a teacher who i would in anyway go anywhere near. i think this show needs a dash of reality and less hot people frolicking around for an hour.

On a totally different note i caught up with The Mentalist last night which was pretty amazing, it was nice to learn some more about Jane's past, although i really want to know who red john is now, is is driving me insane.

And on another side note in my post yesterday i gave you a grid of shows expected to be picked up and not be picked up and i after CW's announcement of the rest of their TV shows i will be really sad to see Life Unexpected go, hopefully it will get a late pick up.
