So lets start with where my obsession began. It was at the gym, i was waiting for my friend to finish getting changed and so i wandered over to the swap a book shelves to waste some time and found a mixture of the series. Of course after hearing all the hype i picked up one to see what all the fuss was about. I picked up Living Dead in Dallas, this is the second book in the series and i thought i should find the first one first but didn't bother thinking i would probably be returning it the next day. But no it was amazing so when I went back to the gym the next day i picked up the rest of the books. I have now managed to read all of them but the short stories and last one. I love every single one of the stories.
So of course once I had started to read the books i wanted to start the TV series, i am now half way through the second season and think it is pretty awesome even though it really does not stick to the plot of the books.
Okay so the series is all based around a telepathic barmaid, Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), from Bon Temps, Louisiana. She works at a bar owned by her good friend Sam (Sam Trammell). This is a very small town and so there is not ussually a lot of excitement, that is until Bill (Stephen Moyer), the vampire moves into town and Sookie realises she cannot read his mind.
With him comes a lot of trouble, namely Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and his sidekick Pam (Kristin Bauer). This gets a little tiring for Sookie who is still trying to balance having a normal human life. Her brother, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) is oblivious to the whole world she has now been sucked into. Her friend Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Laffayette (Nelsan Ellis) tend to get sucked in as well usually against their will.
I know since the birth of twilight a lot of vampire book series, movies and tv shows have come out of the wood works so i was a little worried about this one but actually I think (now don't kill me) that i may like this series more than the twilight.
