The Secret Life of The American Teenager

Okay so after months of waiting for this programme to come out in the UK I gave up and I have other sources so i have managed to watch the first season and am not halfway through the second. Okay so here is my little outline of the show, you should definitely check out this show if you have not done so already. UK- MTV, USA- abcfamily.

Okay so basically it all starts when Amy Jergins (Shailene Woodley) sleeps with Ricky (Daren Kagasoff) at band camp and discovers that she is pregnant. She struggles with what to do and cannot tell anyone apart from her two best friends, who it turns out are not the best people to tell a secret to. Meanwhile Ben (Ken Baumann) decides that he is going to fall in love with her but does not know that she is pregnant.





Ricky is also oblivious to what is going on and is more obsessed with the goody two shoes Christian, Grace (Megan Park). Of course Grace is not the only girl in Ricky's life, she is one of many, another of these is Adrian. Just to add another complication Grace has a boyfriend, Jack, a good Christian who would never force her to do anything but gets upset at her when she gets a promise ring.
Of course Amy got pregnant at the worst possible time for her family, her parents are getting a divorce, her dad (Mark Derwin) is having an affair and her sister, Ashley (India Eisley) is trying her best to keep it together with sarcasm and shutting their mother (Molly Ringwald) out. Just looking at this family, it is not just the kids who make this show it is also the people surrounding them, namely the schools councillor who is hilarious. In another not so hilarious twist we find out that George Jergins is actually having an affair with Adrian's mother (PaolaTurbay) and was once married to Grace's mum (Josie Bissett). Yes it is complicated life at this high school, and things get even more complicated as everyone comes together over the rumours and babies.

Okay so the reason i have written all of this is because i think that this show is pretty awesome for a teen show, they actually all have very distinct personalities, okay so i hate Ben's but the rest of them are totally suited to the show. I particularly like the adults in this show because they seem to add just a little bit of sanity to the young sex obsessed younger generation cast. Amy's dad is particularly good at this and any scene he is in is pretty damn good.
