Summer Movies

Okay so here is a list of all the movies i am excited about which are coming to cinema's this year, of course things change so i will be back here to add, swap and change things, bookmark it!

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Now
Plot: Jack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.

Verdict: Okay so i am not as excited about this film as i was the rest in the franchise, and the missing characters might be the problem but i was willing to give it a chance, so it is up here burt as i am completely broke right now i do not think i will be going to see it, it may have to be a DVD release for this one i am afraid. Don't worry i still love you Jack, just not as keen on you new friends.

The Art of Getting by
June 17th
Plot: George, a lonely and fatalistic teen who's made it all the way to his senior year without ever having done a real day of work, is befriended by Sally, a popular but complicated girl who recognizes in him a kindred spirit.

Verdict: Okay so I am relatively excited about this one, i mean Emma Roberts has done some amazing films recently and i think this could be one of her best yet.

Bad Teacher
24th June
Plot: A comedy centered around a foul-mouthed, junior high teacher who, after being dumped by her sugar daddy, begins to woo a colleague -- a move that pits her against a well-loved teacher.

Verdict: Okay so this film has some good points and some bad points. Okay first, Cameron Diaz in a comedy, yay, you just know that cheeky grin of hers is going to get some laughs even if we don't know why she is smiling. Two and a reason she could be smiling a lot, Justin Timberlake, now i know there was a lot of speculation about him moving away from music and into the movie industry but i think he has done it remarkably well, and if past performance (the social network) is anything to go by, he has a knack for piicking scripts and acting them well. My only worry, now that i think about it, is the storyline, now you may think this is big problem but i don't know, with a cast as strong as that, it would have to be completely and utterly awful for me to not enjoy it.

Larry Crowne
1st July
Plot: After losing his job, a middle-aged man reinvents himself by going back to college.

Verdict: Okay i know i know the plot line sounds pretty poor and i think I can just about see the ending now, but i don't think Julia Roberts can do anything wrong in my books, i mean look at all the awesome films she has done (Notting Hill, Erin Brockovitch, Pretty Woman to name a few), okay so some of her recent ones have not been as excellent but maybe she can pull this one back (i think i will always say that for her), after all she is playing across from Tom Hanks, what more could you wish for, for a blockbuster.

Monte Carlo
1st July
Plot: Three young women vacationing in Paris find themselves whisked away to Monte Carlo after one of the girls is mistaken for a British heiress.

Verdict: I know I know i am a total sucker for the chick flick, but i think that this has a really strong leading class and could do really well, with lots of people not just the JPD (just past disney) crowd. I love Leighton in Gossip Girl but i really hope we see another side to her in this film, hopefully one more down to earth. The only bad thing i will say is that Selena cannot do British, she sounds awful, we do not sound like that.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
15th July
Plot: Okay so think you have to have been living in the cave for the past ten years to now know what is going on in this movie, so i am not even going to put a plot in.

Verdict: Okay so as always this movie will be amazing, i think it is the premier that more people are interested in, how many of the young stars who now seem to be desperately distancing themselves from the franchise, will turn up, who knows?

Friends with benefits
22nd July
Plot: While trying to avoid the clichés of Hollywood romantic comedies, Dylan (Timberlake) and Jamie (Kunis) soon discover however that adding the act of sex to their friendship does lead to complications.

verdict: My my Mr Timberlake, you have been busy, yes this is yet another Timberlake film that i very excited for, in this one he does have the leading man role though so it adds something for him (probably more money) but no in all seriousness, i am very excited for this obvious chick flick, no seriously.

The Change Up
5th August
Plot: A comedy in which a married guy switches bodies with his best friend in order to woo his co-worker.

Verdict: I know, i know, this just sounds awful but it is from the director of the wedding crashers (awesome),so it cannot be that bad. Mid you even if the story is bad i can spend two hours staring at Ryan Reynolds.

The Help
12th August
Plot: A look at what happens when a southern town's unspoken code of rules and behaviour is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship.

Verdict: Okay so this film has Emma Stone as the main role and so on that note i think it is going to be awesome.

Spy Kids 4
19th August
Plot: A mother returns to her old profession -- she's a retired spy -- in order to prevent a villain bent on stopping time.

Verdict: Okay so I loved all the other films in this series but I think that maybe they have taken this a little too far, it is too soon to tell really.

Abduction
September 23rd
Plot: A thriller centred on a young man who sets out to uncover the truth about his life after finding his baby photo on a missing persons website.

Verdict: Okay Okay lets admit it from the get go, the only reason i am excited about this movie is Taylor Lautner.

Dream House
30th September
Plot: Soon after moving into their seemingly idyllic new home, a family learns of a brutal crime committed against former residents of the dwelling.

Verdict: Okay so there is only those two lines to go by but by attaching Daniel Craig's name i am really excited. I will post the trailer when it comes.

2011 Movies part 1

Okay so this is a list of all the movies i am looking forward to in the next year, kind of in chronological order but i will be adding as the relase information comes out, so check back.

The dilemma
Plot: A comedy as a guy struggles with whether to tell his best friend that his wife is having an affair.

Verdict: Now i am not completely sure about this one but the trailer looks good, and i love Vince Vaughn in everything he has been in before so, for him, i will give it a chance.

No Strings attached
Plot: A comedy centred around a couple of friend who decide to keep their relationship strictly physical.

Verdict: Okay so this looks like another bad rom com and i don't really know why it is on here apart from i think that since Ashton Kutcher did his whole TV series which flopped (although it really shouldn't have) i have a new respect for him and a hope that actually he can find a good script, fingers crossed.

From Prada to Nada Plot: Two rich white girls lose their money after their father dies and have to become poor.

Verdict: Okay so think Material Girls but , and i mean this in a non racist way, Mexican. I am looking forward to this purely because i really liked Material Girls (I know i am wierd). It also has Alexa Vega, and i love her in nearly everything she's done so it can't be all bad.

The Roomate

Plot:

Verdict: The only reason i am watching this is Ashton Kutcher and not because he is hot, which he is, but because i think now that he has spent some time behind the camera (The beautiful Life) there is hope he can pick out a good movie to be in now. Fingers crossed.

From Prada to Nada
Plot: Okay so two sisters lose their fortune when their father dies and have to move in with family in Mexico and live "poor".

Verdict: Okay so i am thinking that this is going to be a lot like Material Girls, which i don't have a problem with, i loved that movie, but better, purely because of Alexa Vega.

The Roomate
Plot: Okay so Sara moves to collega and it turns out her roomate is a phsyco.

Verdict: Okay so i am not ussually into this sort of thing but just because of the awesome cast i thought it deserved a spot on this list and i have to say that the storyline looks like it could be good, i just hope that a rubbish story is being covered up by an awesome cast.

Just go with it
Plot: A guy convinces a mother of two (Aniston) to pose as his soon to be divorced wife in order to get the girl of his dreams.

Verdict: Okay so usually i am not a big fan of Adam Sandler, he just makes me cringe but i think that with Jennifer Aniston in this he will be nicely balanced out.

Unknown
Plot: Dr Harris wakes up from a coma to discover someone has taken on his identity, no one believes him, not even his wife.

Verdict: Okay so this looks amazing and i love Neeson in virtually all his movies.

Movies must see

Okay so here are just a few movies which are my absolute fave, I love them no matter how many times I watch them over and over, I don’t know what it is about them which make them so amazing.
Accepted- This is a hilariously funny movie that made me laugh most of the way through. I just wish all schools could be like that.
Trailer
A Cinderella story- Okay so I know that the storyline is pretty rubbish but Chad!!!! Yes I know it is totally shallow but I love him in this, although he does seem to play the same role over and over, Sporty but with a brain and a heart.

Bend it like Beckham- Okay this is a great feel good film and I love all the characters in this. This is a great film and it is one of Kiera Knightley’s earliest so definitely check it out.

Bring it on all or nothing- Now this is the best bring it on movie of all of them. I know some of you might see it as a bit racist, mind you most of these movies are racist but this one does it in a funny light hearted way. I love all the cheers in this movie.

Centre stage- I love this one because it is a real feel good movie of no one thought she could do it buts she did it. Then there is the fact that as well as it being a great dance movie there is drama as well, and an actual storyline.

Cheaper by the dozen- This is the remake I am afraid, I don’t have much patience with black and white films and Steve Martin is great. All the kids are also great comedic actors, especially the twin boys.

Coach carter- This is great feel good film, though it did make me cry on more than one occasion, the whole cast is amazing and the soundtrack just pushes it over the edge into amazingness.

Coyote ugly- This is another great movie about growing up and finding your way in the world, and if I had a choice this would be the way to do it. The music is also amazing.

Cruel Intentions- This is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen and you have to see it! There are some great people in this as well.

Domino- This is one of the most confusing stories ever but once you have got your head round it is truly amazing.

Easy a- I know I have gone on and on about this movie but I do think it is amazing and if you get the chance defitely check it out.

Erin Brokovich- This is one of the best movies ever, the fact that Julia Roberts is in it just makes the storyline come alive. It actually makes me cry every time, but there are some great lines in there as well.

Gracie’s choice- This is one of the best movies of all time and you have to see it. Kristen Bell is amazing in this movie, she is so believable and the drama and the storyline and well everything about this movie is excellent and inspiration.

Greta- Hilary duff is amazing in this and this is the first film I have a lot of respect for her about. The writing is excellent and I love nearly all the lines. Evan Ross is also in this and he is pretty amazing as well, the fact that he is hot is an added bonus.

Hackers- This is one of Angelina Jolie’s first movies and although she does not play a massive role in this film she is still amazing. The storyline is there and all the characters work well together.

Law abiding citizen- I love this movie because it was an amazing thriller. The twists and turns in the plotline was great and you don’t know anything until the very last second, by the end you have swapped sides so many times you are dizzy. Gerard Butler is great in this; this is just the right kind of movie for him.

Legally blonde- Okay so for all you guys out there this may not appeal but this is a total girl power movie and I love every second of it.
http://www.evtv1.com/player.aspx?itemnum=6915
Long lost son- I love this movie, it is so heart warming and of course because it has Chace Crawford in it, and another plus because he lives near the beach as a boater, he spends half the movie topless!

Million dollar baby- Okay so this is one of the saddest movies I have ever seen but I still love it, the whole cast are amazing and they have an amazing chemistry.

Pretty woman- this is one of my fave movies ever and I can always watch it no matter what mood I am in and it will make me feel good. I know it is a little old and may not appeal to you but give it a chance it is one of my best.

Raise your voice- Check it out it is a real feel good film. There is no way you can watch the first bit without crying but it will leave you feeling better at the end.

Raising Helen- This is another really sad at the start but gets better, I love everything about this movie especially Hayden, she is amazing in this and Kate Hudson lights up the screen.

Save the last dance- This is a really good dance movie and I think that I could watch this over and over again, although the follow up was really bad.

Step up- This movie is just amazing with some great music and dance numbers. It also helps that Channing Tatum was in it. This film will make you laugh, cry and cringe all within the space of less than two hours.

Stick it- Okay so I have already spoken about this one in another post so I am not going to repeat myself again.

Sweet home Alabama- I love this film, the leading man is so hot but it is not just a romantic comedy, there is an actual story going on.

Ten things I hate about you- This is one of the amazing movies which although the fashion is now horribly out of date and no one would ever have that hair cut, I still love it.

The bounty Hunter- I love this mainly because of Gerard Butler but also because Jennifer Aniston is a great comedic actress.

The private lives of Pippa Lee- Now there is quite a complicated story behind all of this but give it a chance it is amazing.

The proposal- This is an awesome movie, Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds have a great chemistry on screen and the on-going hilarious commentary is amazing.

The shawshank redemption – Now I know that this is another really old movie but there is just something about this which keeps you hooked, maybe it’s because you want to know how everything is supposed to work but it is amazingly clever.

The ugly truth- I love this movie, the combination of Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler is comedy genius, and I fall in love with Gerard Butler every time he opens his mouth.

Twilight- Now I know most of you will be like what is she thinking. Although the main cast is not as great in this movie, the supporting cast is good enough to keep me entertained, especially Cam Gigandet

What a girl wants- This is another great feel good movie and one of Amanda Bynes best movies, it also helps for those of you who are into him that Colin Firth, and if he is just a little too old for you then look no further than Oliver James.

Movie Time

Okay so i was having a bit of a vegging out moment earlier and i managed to fit in one of my all time fave movies, Stick It starring Missy Perrgrym. Now i love this movie, the dialogue is very clever and i just really want something like this to happen in real life. I have loved watching gymnastics on TV for ages and i found this movie a couple of years ago and got really excited. It was worth it too, the cast is excellent, the storyline fun and light hearted and then of course there are some awesome tricks.
Here is the trailer for you to check out:

And of course the link for you to buy it on Amazon: here

And then just because it was on the same page here is the trailer for another awesome movie, Accepted.

Veronica Mars

Now I think it is such a shame that it took 3 seasons and a cancellation before this show finally made it over to the UK. I have seen this show nearly 5 times and I still love it! If you have not gotten into it yet I would greatly recommend you check it out, E4 at 8 am or 12.10pm every day. This is a little homemade video I found on YouTube and I thought it really captured the show so please check it out. Credit where credit is due.

I thought now was the perfect time to write this post as they showed my favourite episode very early this morning at about 2am, why the weird time? Well as the voice over guy said beforehand, this is not suitable for daytime viewing. The episode is called A Trip to the Dentist and if you have seen it before, you will understand why they couldn’t show it at 8am.
Let me give you a little recap/ Introduction as to what this show is all about:
This is a series based around a girl called; yes you guessed it, Veronica Mars, her friend and family, dead, alive or missing. Veronica goes to a normal, if abnormally diverse high school in Neptune. She is one of the poorer students who used to get to hang out with the popular kids until her best friend was murdered and Veronica’s dad (the sheriff) tried to pin the murder on Lily’s (the best friend) family. Unfortunately he was the only one who thought this was the case and so he was thrown out of office to become a private detective. Veronica was shunned by her former friends and boyfriend and became a bit of a loner. Veronica takes after her dad and is quite a detective herself so in between solving other classmate’s problems she is also trying to track down Lily’s killer, believing the man incarcerated for the crime innocent.
Now it is not just the plotline which makes this show great, the characters are all well rounded and seem genuine, the banter is excellent and the sparks actually fly every time Veronica (Kristen Bell) and Logan (Jason Dohring) are on screen together.

And the soundtrack is pretty awesome as well:

So then best clips? Well there are so many, but here are a few of my favourites:

Now we knew Kirsten was talented but this was just excellent:

Now this is the scene which makes me love tthis episode so much, they are both amazing actors and i really want to see Duncan (Teddy Dunn) in something as excellent as this again:

I love this scene because it just shows how veronica and Logan are meant to be together even when they are not: “its the sweater isn’t it?” lol

I love this clip, the first kiss is always the best:

And some cool quotes:
Fire Chief: [about Veronica] Well, if it isn't Smokey the Barely Legal.

Veronica: You know what they say about Veronica Mars: she's a marshmallow.

Ms. Dent: Can I help you with something?
Veronica: Uh, yeah. The counselor stuck me in here. [Ms. Dent walks over to take informational papers from her] She says I'm disconnected and passionless.
Caitlin: Ms. Dent?
Ms. Dent: Caitlin?
Caitlin: I'm gonna go down to the gym to talk to people for the student poll.
Ms. Dent: Be back by the end of the period. And remember that we're a multicultural school with a diverse population of students from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.
Caitlin: Meaning?
Ms. Dent: Meaning don't just interview your friends.
(Yes this is the bit with Paris Hilton in oh dear in indeed)

Keith: Have you been playing nice with the other children?
Veronica: You know Dad, I'm old school, an eye for an eye.
Keith: I think that's actually Old Testament.

[Veronica arrives home from a date.]
Veronica: So, what did you think of him?
Keith: Oh, hey, you're home early.
Veronica: Oh, hey, did you run his license plate or did you get fingerprints?
Keith: I'm sorry, honey, what?
Veronica: You know you're not fooling me.
Keith: Okay. Veronica, I have no idea what you're talking about. [Veronica scoffs and starts to go to her room] Oh, hey, I forgot to tell you. If he's gonna be kissing my daughter on my porch for eight-and-a-half minutes, I'll need to meet him. Sweet dreams, honey.
Veronica: Is that really necessary?
Keith: He's taking up a lot of daddy/daughter time.

Veronica: [to Troy] Dude, where's your car?
Clemmons: Mr. Echolls, I was wondering if I could have a word?
Logan: "Anthropomorphic." All yours, big guy.
Clemmons: Oh. [fake laugh] Your father has generously offered to donate a pair of boots for our school fundraising auction.
Logan: Not the ones made for walking? God, I love those boots.

Weevil: Sometimes the girls get put off by this old motorcycle jacket thing. Do you think something in suede might make me seem more... accessible?
Veronica: [in jail] Know any good lawyers?
Cliff: Very cute. I know an adequate one that just posted your $500 bail.
Veronica: They take Diner's Club here?

Lamb: [reading off of a $50 bill] Veronica Mars is... smarter than me.
Veronica: [slaps Lamb playfully] Oh, you stop it!

Jake: You are having sex with my daughter?
Weevil: Not right now.

Duncan: So, anyone read the paper today? Garfield - I mean, will he ever learn? Oh yeah, and there was this other thing: I guess Abel Koontz didn't kill Lilly. Let's open the floor for discussion on that one.

So yeah they were pretty awesome but what has become of them now?

Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell): she has been quite successful since then but I still think she was best in Gracie’s choice. She was also pretty awesome in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and I am particularly looking forward to seeing her in Burlesque. Another of my favourites is hearing her every week on Gossip Girl.

Logan (Jason Dohring): he has been nowhere near as successful and i don’t understand why, i always loved him in VM but unfortunately all he seems to have done is a few guest appearances in bad TV shows. He has been in Moonlight another TV show for quite a few episodes but unfortunately it is not airing anywhere near me so I can’t comment.

Wallace (Percy Daggs III): He hasn’t been in anything interesting either it is quite a disappointment to me as i loved him but he seems hard to come by nowadays.

Weevil (Francis Capra):he has had many different walk on TV roles which he was really good in but nothing major, there have been a few TV movies but nothing that I HAVE to go and see.

Keith (Enrico Colantoni): Now he has been quite successful, i have seen him in quite a few TV programmes and he has a new film lined up for release early next year

Duncan (Teddy Dunn): He has been in a few films and TV shows nothing terribly exciting but i do still want to have a look at Jumper his 2008 film but i haven’t had the time. Is it any good?

Lily (Amanda Seyfried): now she has been very successful since VM, landing the lead in the smash hit Mamma Mia but that is not all she has had a long standing role in the TV hit Big Love and a few other blockbuster movies, pretty good ones as well.

Fall Movies

Okay so there are so many awesome new movies coming out this winter that i thought i would just write a short piece about the ones i am looking forward to the most, and of course the biggest one Harry Potter,

Okay so the first one that i am most looking forward to is Easy A, i have been watching and re-watching this trailer for months now and it is finally out at the cinema, i cannot wait to go and see it. here is the official synopsis: As she studies The Scarlet Letter, high schooler Olive Penderghast (Stone) notices her parallels to the novel and begins to work the school's rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.

And here is the trailer, check it out:

So you can see why i am so excited to see this one.

Next is Takers, i have been watching this trailer for a while now and have already put the featured song on my iPod, because it is that great, i don't usually like this kind of movie but there is so much hotness wandering around in it, that it must be good. Plot: A hard-boiled detective (Dillon) gets in between a group of bank robbers and their plan to make away with a $20 million bounty.

The social network opens October 1st, and looks great, it is also one of the most talked about movies at the moment and i think it is going to be as good as they are making it out to be. Plot: Harvard undergraduate Mark Zuckerberg (Eisenberg) recruits some of his classmates to develop the social networking website, Facebook. The endeavor, however, leads to a messy fallout with friend and co-founder, Eduardo Saverin (Garfield). It stars : Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake to name a few.

Life as we know it opens October 8th in the UK and i cannot wait, Katherine Hiegl is an amazing actress and she always seems to get it right, every time. so here goes for another hilarious adventure:

Conviction, now i am not entirely sure about this but you can guarantee that Hilary Swank will give a great performance, so i think i will still give it a go, this also comes out October 8th.

Fair Game also looks really good in a thriller kind of way,The Plot: While investigating the existence of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, CIA operative Valerie Plame (Watts) discovers her identity allegedly leaked by the government as payback for an op-ed article her husband (Penn) wrote criticizing the Bush administration.

Welcome to the Rileys: i know that it is a bit of a cliche now but i actually really like Kirsten Stewart and i think that this kind of movie suits her a lot more than the Twilight saga. It will be interesting to see this although it only has a limited release so it may be a DVD order, anyway it comes out November 5th.

Finally we get to Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 1 and i have to say that these movies seems to get better and better with each installment, it is a shame they will be ending soon, but i will be prebooking my ticket to see this one, i think this is s queue for 3 hours film wherever you are.

Burlesque: i am looking forward to this one because the cast is just amazing, i love both Kirsten Bell and Cam Gigandet and cannot wait to see them in this.

Trailer:

Somewhere: this movie looks like it could go one way or the other, it has a relatively unknown cast, Dakot Fanning's sister, Elle has one of the leads so I'm going to watch it just because of her, Plot: A hard-living actor (Dorff) holed up in the Chateau Marmont gets a reality check when he's visited by his 11-year-old daughter (Fanning).

Trailer:

Country strong: A drama centered on a rising country-music songwriter (Hedlund) who sparks with a fallen star (Paltrow). Together, they mount his ascent and her comeback, which leads to romantic complications involving her husband/manager (McGraw) and a beauty queen-turned-singer (Meester). Now i am going to see this just because i love Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) and so the actual story could be quite bad but i might forgive it if she is anywhere near as good s she is in GG. It opens 24th December most places, later elsewhere nearer to January 7th.

Trailer:

Okay so i have covered all the ones i am looking forward to, as i see them i will post a review but it may take me a while, i don't have the money to be going to the cinema twice a week, but i will try to be as quick as possible,Thanks

Oh, the gossip

Yay i have just found out that Gossip Girl will be returning to our screens in the UK next Thursday with Chuck Bass apparently alive and well. :) Thank god they are coming back i was missing the GG lads. I have been watching the trailer for Chace Crawfords new movie Twelve over and over again in hopes of seeing it properly soon. . I have loved Chace in all the things he has done so far particularly 'Long Lost Son' with Craig Sheffer, who played Keith in One tree hill before being killed of by his brother, Oh the drama! I haven't caught up on One Tree Hill recently but hope to do so this weekend. Anyway back to the point, the GG lads. I am so glad they didn't kill of Chuck. I love his character and Ed Westwick, his voice just makes me weak. If the same is true for you, you have to see season 3's bloopers there is a great bit in there with Ed swapping between his American and British accent and i still can't decide which is sexier. Anyways take a look for yourselves.
Much love Jem xxx
